About Us

Chris & Monique Fallows

We are Chris and Monique Fallows and we’re passionate about sharks and marine wildlife. Having worked at, or visited, all of the world’s Great White hotspots, we’re confident that False Bay is completely unique in what is has to offer in viewing shark predatory behaviour.

Spending over 200 days at sea each year means we’re able to give our guests the most natural encounter with sharks possible. We specialise in small groups and our eco-friendly approach to expeditions ensures an intimate and educational experience when choosing Apex Shark Expeditions. We have facilitated many iconic shark films and documentaries over the years. Our Boat

·         Boat Safety

White Pointer II is specially designed shark cage diving vessel. She complies with all safety requirements and Great White Shark permit conditions. We send the boat for annual safety inspections. Safety equipment includes life jackets, first aid kit, radio and cellular phone.

·         Upper Deck

The upper viewing deck comfortably accommodates 6 guests.

·         Comfort

White Pointer II is 36ft long with a fully enclosed wrap-around cabin. The curved windscreens offer superb visibility from inside the cabin. There are cushioned seats, a flush toilet and ample dry storage lockers.

·         360 Degree View

Built with photography in mind, the vessel allows guests 360 degree walk-around opportunities, as well as a fly bridge for alternate angles.

·         The Marlin doors

The Marlin doors allow for easy access for divers entering and exiting the cage.

·         Behind the boat

She is powered by two 250 HP, 4-stroke Honda engines. These match a quiet, stable ride with speed and fuel efficiency.

The Cage

·         Cage safety

The cage is firmly attached to our boat with two thick ropes. The bottom of the cage lies two metres below the surface.

·         Cage construction

Our cage is constructed with galvanised steel and has passed all shark cage diving permit conditions. It is a spacious five person cage that floats right next to the boat enabling us to communicate with you while you’re in the cage. Specially designed doors ensure ease of access for divers. Getting into the cage is as simple as stepping off the boat.

All shark cage diving is done under the supervision of an experienced crew who have first aid & oxygen management, scuba & commercial skippers’ qualifications and have expert knowledge of the behaviour of sharks around the cage.

·         Buoyancy

The cage is equipped with many independent flotation devices to provide buoyancy, keeping about 80 centimetres of the cage above the water at all times.

·         Cage Lid

The cage has a lid to further enhance your safety. After you have entered the cage, the lid is closed.

·         Shark viewing

The cage boasts 35cm high camera ports with a hand rail.

·         Diving

Diving is on breath-hold or snorkel. There is no experience required. Although we don’t recommend it, certified divers may request air and this is supplied by means of a hookar system.

·         Footing

The cage bottom boasts a grid with a foot bar to assist divers staying submerged.
