Segwati Getaways/Ranch is located on the picturesque Northern boundary of the “Cradle of Humankind” World Heritage site, just 45 minutes’ drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa.
Set on a 650 hectare game farm, Segwati Getaways Ranch, with its beautiful, unspoilt views of the mountains and open plains, offers nature lovers a tranquil and relaxing break-away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. An experience that is totally different from your luxury lodge or resort.
Segwati offers a non-commercialized African Wildlife experience where one can take a hike amongst the game, have a swim in an old converted reservoir in the middle of the open savannahs, enjoy an adventure filled Safari quad bike trail or simply bring a picnic/braai and relax at our picnic area.
We also offer corporate fun Days – Bush Paintball war games – School Holiday Camps – Outdoor Events – Group Accommodation and much more. Accommodation:
Nyala Bush Camp:
Nyala Bush Camp is set in a natural basin deep in the farm and is ideal for group accommodation, although it was originally designed as a hiker’s camp – it has become very popular with all groups looking for a bush experience.
Nyala Bush Camp has a central boma fire place with 10 wooden cabins circling the boma, an outdoor kitchen area with all kitchen amenities. Male and female ablutions are set behind the kitchen and there is a dining room that can be used in the case of rain. Nyala Bush Camp caters for groups of a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 32, the beds are all bunk beds with 6 cabins being 4 sleepers and 4 cabins are 2 sleepers. There is electricity in all the cabins, ablutions and dining room.
In keeping that Segwati is a Nature Reserve/Game farm, our aim is to cater for people who enjoy and respect the natural beauty of nature and therefore have to lay down some basic rules and regulations so that everyone on the farm can enjoy the tranquillity of the place (please email for further information)
Back Packers accommodation:
We have opened Nyala Bush Camp as back packers’ accommodation from a Monday to a Thursday, giving overseas tourists travelling on a budget the opportunity of enjoying a truly African Wildlife experience. Situated between the Hartbeespoort Dam and the Maropeng and located in the “Cradle of Mankind” world heritage site, Segwati Getaways/Ranch is ideally positioned as a base to explore the numerous tourist attractions in the area whilst staying on a 650 hectare Game Farm.
School Holiday Camps:
The aim of our school holiday camps is to provide the children with a safe, fun and adventure filled holiday break, an opportunity to grow and experience new things that they will not normally get the chance of experiencing and an experience that leaves a positive lasting impression.
As parents ourselves, we understand the concerns that parents face – and that each child is an individual with their own individual needs and limitations, the idea is to build confidence in each child and to do this we will have to push their personal boundaries a bit and take them out of their comfort zones. This will only be done where the outcome will be a positive one and allows that individual child to grow and thereby gain confidence in their own ability.
We take a maximum of 24 children per camp which are divided into groups of 8, each group will have their own group leader who will take personal care of them. Please note that the use of cell phones will be limited to an hour every second evening.
Safari Quad Bike Trails:
Renowned quad-bike trails for groups and individuals – more
We offer self-guided hikes and are a popular destination for hiking and birding clubs. Although we do offer MTB trails, we prefer to limit the number of riders as the wildlife tends to get a bit nervous if there are too many riders on the farm.
Bush Paintball Warfare or Target shooting competition:
Our Bush paintball has become very popular, especially with the corporate fun days as an extra activity after the Safari Quad trails. Our Bush paintball is very different to the paintball normally played in the cities, it involves a much more tactical approach, where things like camouflage and strategy plays a much bigger roll. We are in the process of offering “War Games” as another more realistic activity, an activity that involves a lot more thought, strategic planning, map reading and tactical manoeuvring.
We offer a number of outdoor events throughout the year, our most popular being our Moonlight walks which is combined with a picnic and live acoustic music. Other events like trail runs, adventure challenges and so on are growing on a yearly basis.
Eco 4×4 Driver Training:
When we offered 4×4 trails on the farm in the past we noticed that there are a large number of 4×4 owners that have had no basic training on using their vehicles and ended up destroying the environment or their vehicles. We have since decided to offer a short but comprehensive 4×4 driver training course covering all the basic principles of driving a 4×4.
Safari Quad Bike Trails:
Said to be rated as one of the best Safari Quad bike trails in the country, Segwati offers a Unique quad biking experience filled with adventure and unforgettable game viewing. There are spectacular views of the countryside as the trail meanders up the Witwatersberg mountains and overlooks the Magaliesberg valley and mountain range to the North and the “Cradle of Humankind” World Heritage site to the South.
If you have never ridden a Quad bike before – No need to worry, our experienced, friendly and safety conscious guides will assist you with familiarizing yourself with the quads or you could be lifted and still enjoy the adventure. With us Safety comes First!
All our Quads Bikes are sturdy trail quads and are fully automatic, Our aim is to offer a Safe, Fun and Adventure filled Safari Quad biking experience and at the same time respecting the natural beauty of the farm and wild life.
