The Leading Fishing Charter Company in Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa
Hooked on Africa Fishing Charters is a popular Deep Sea Fishing Charter Company in Cape Town that is runs its charters out of Hout Bay.
Run by Sean Amor and his crew, with several boats to choose from and many years of deep sea fishing experience in the Cape Waters for fish species like the Yellowfin Tuna, Snoek, Yellowtail and more.
Having learnt from some of the best in the Cape, I always try to offer you the client 100% even if sometimes my instructions from the wheel or fly bridge seem like commands…
Hi I’m Sean and having fished these waters for some 25 years now feel I know conditions and the species we catch, fairly well now, having skippered, fished, dived and just cruised these oceans feel I can offer you a fair chance of catching whatevers biting at that time of the year.
Hooked on Africa Fishing Charters has a fleet of customized charter fishing vessels, personally skippered by professional and qualified guides with years of experience about local conditions, ensuring that your every need is catered for. To this our track record speaks for itself. In addition to this I have been accepted by the International Game Fish Association as a Certified Captain as well as having received my South African Deep Sea Angling Association (SADSAA) colours and Western Province Deep Sea Angling Association (WPDSAA) colours.
There are few people more passionate about fishing than Stuart.
Having been born into one of Cape Towns more well known fishing families, catching fish is not a way of life as much as it is his reason for living! He has been involved in various forms of fishing since the age of five, from exploring every mud-flat and channel of the Knysna Lagoon, catching kob and galjoen from the beach on the Skeleton Coast to trolling the deep for big Yellowfin Tuna.
Stu has been involved with Hooked on Africa for the past 13 years working his way from crew to Skipper and business partner. If Sean has the knack of finding the fish Stu has the uncanny ability to hook the biggest fish in the shoal!!!
Our Fishing Tackle
Hooked on Africa Fishing Charters like its boats, skippers and track record does not compromise on tackle but rather supplies you the anglier, with equipment suitable for the species we are targeting. We don’t believe in going to a “gun fight with a knife but rather an automatic”.
As can be seen from the photos only PENN INTERNATIONAL and SHIMANO reels are used for most of our targeted species giving you the angler a fair advantage and the fish a fair chance. By replacing IGFA rated lines on a regular basis and by using tried and tested lures we feel you have a chance of turning dreams into reality with Hooked on Africa Fishing Charters.
Our tackle is proudly brought to you by Stealth , Our hooks that are supplied by Stealth are Gamakatsu Hooks, Smith Optics Sunglasses keep our Captains eye on the fish at all times.
We use different types of tackle depending on what we are fishing for. This is determined by many factors such as the time of the year, water temperatures, ocean currents, water clarity and feeding patterns change. We use only the finest tackle to ensure that we have the best possible opportunity at catching our targeted species for the day, be it Yellowfin Tuna, Snoek, Dorado or Yellowtail

Conventional Deep Sea Offshore Fishing
The Cape has some of the richest Tuna grounds in the World today. The Yellowfin Tuna found in the Cape waters often top the scales at 80 kgs plus and we catch Longfin of 20 kgs plus. A day out in the deep will long be remembered as it brings you into contact not only with one of the worlds toughest fighting fish but also into a diverse ecosystem. Out in the warm water currents, you will get the opportunity to see numerous species of Albatross, Killer Whales (Orca) and Dusky Dolphins.
The TUNA Season runs from Mid October to June, with the best times being at the beginning and end of the season.
Cape YELLOWTAIL is a member of the Carynx family and is a formidable fighter. We normally find these fish around the infamous Cape Point, which offers the visitor the opportunity to see this landmark from a whole new angle.
We tend to incorporate this fishing day with a bit of Crayfishing (West Cost Lobster) and one can expect a decadent Crayfish lunch on board. Crayfishing as per season allowed by and announced by the local fishing authorities.
Snoek are the only fish that are available during the winter months. This underrated game fish moves into our waters in huge quantities during the months of May to September. We generally tend to find them at depths of around 15-20 meters and they provide the keen fly-fisherman with a worthy challenge on the fly. The fish are generally in the 5-7 kg class. This fishing is for everyone including complete novices. Tuna fishing takes a full day, 30 miles out to sea, so if you do suffer from seasickness then please inform us so we can provide you with the necessary precautions before coming aboard.
Other species that are targeted off the peninsula coastline are: Blue Sharks, Dorado and Mako Sharks. Why not try your luck at Deep Sea Fly Fishing next time you go out with us. Ask our captain Yellow Fin for more info. Daiwa stand up rods with both Penn International and Shimano reels are supplied for conventional fishing.
