This is where the journey begins… In 1997 our family realized their dream of owning and running a Safari Lodge! With no previous experience in hospitality, but a great passion for conservation and a drive to give exceptional service to guests, we embarked on our journey to create an outstanding family-run lodge in Zululand. The lodge was built by the family with stone and locally sourced materials with the help from the community members who were brought in and taught how to build.
In 2003 Clive Vivier began sharing his dream of creating a large conservation area with our neighbors. Giving birth to the 56 000 acres Manyoni Private Game Reserve.
The years that followed saw a flurry of exciting introductions creating a haven for the big five and endangered species like black rhino and wild dog.
In 2017, we celebrated 20 years of hard work from our dedicated team of 40 incredibly professional staff, led by Ryan and Joe Vivier. Our extended family are passionate about what they do and embrace the values and ethos that Leopard Mountain lives by. We have enjoyed over 20 years of amazing guests that have visited Leopard Mountain time and time again and who appreciate what makes our piece of heaven so unique.
Exceptional service and a warm atmosphere dissolve away the stresses of modern day living. Leopard Mountain has the most spectacular and uninterrupted views in Zululand, which provide an ever changing panorama over the African plains and the meandering riverine forests below.
Your stay at the lodge is in a luxurious, well-appointed stone and thatch chalet. The rooms have air conditioners for hot days and are equipped with large, open showers that have incredible views over the valley below and are a light and spacious haven of peace and tranquillity to relax and unwind in. By day, laze in your hammock or private plunge pool and watch the eagles soar at eye level over the plains below and by night, marvel at the magnificence of millions of stars under the African night sky. Your private balcony is the perfect place to have a glass of sherry and watch the moon rising over the mountains.

Community and Conservation
As one of the founders of the Manyoni Private Game Reserve ( previously Zululand Rhino Reserve), we are acutely aware that Communities and Conservation are inextricably linked.
Leopard Mountain has chosen to support two great causes the first being the Zululand Rhino Orphanage. This is a fantastic initiative which aims at rescuing and rehabilitating baby rhino when their mothers have passed away either from poaching or natural causes. So far they have an excellent track record with a good number of reintroductions back to the wild.
The second being the Zululand Conservation Trust which aims to support both Local Community and Conservation Initiatives. Whether it is painting a Crèche, conducting school children’s awareness safaris or a conservation Fundraising Drive Leopard Mountain tries to support as much as possible.
We are proud to work together with the Zululand Conservation Trust that supports and preserves Communities and Conservation in Zululand.
Join us in this extremely rewarding journey and help preserve our natural resources for future generati
