Outdoor fun for the whole family.
Stunning views of the coast or hills and valleys, whether you ride, hike, camp or relax.
The world is best viewed from between the ears of a horse, and the views from these horses are simply breath taking.
Whether you are looking for a family getaway on the coast, an adventurous and active weekend in nature with friends, or a secluded romantic hideaway for two, we will do our best to tailor-make a package that will match your plans.
You will find us on ‘Tharfield’, a historic Settler farm situated on the coast halfway between Port Elizabeth and East London in the Eastern Cape.
Ride for just one hour, or over several days and enjoy adventurous horse riding and hiking trails down steep dunes onto secluded beaches, through shady dune forests with stunning views out to sea.
Follow tracks along the river, across wetlands, and through open farmland. Check out the beautiful Boran cattle with their calves, or spot indigenous game such as Bushbuck or Oribi.
Visit us for a farm-stay in a simple 1820’s style stone cottage with a sea view and friendly horses grazing in front of your veranda. Watch the cattle coming past; help with a farm chore or two such as bottle-feeding an orphaned calf or simply grooming a horse.
Alternatively, for the more active, hike along the forest trails and camp out in the forest river treehouse, built high up in an old Yellowwood tree. A scenic and fairly easy 3.5km hiking trail follow the river through the forest from the farmhouse.
