Guided/unguided walks: Closed shoes (preferably comfortable walking shoes), long pants and some form of protection from the sun, such a peak or hat. Game drivers: Comfortable clothing, as well as a jacket/jersey for cooler conditions in the early morning and evenings.

The Bonamanzi Game Reserve was declared one of South Africa’s natural heritage sites in 1995 due to its diverse habitats and unique environmental features. The reserve is around 4000 hectares in size, with its Eastern side overlooking False Bay, while its western side features a viewing deck overlooking the Lalapanzi dam. Bonamanzi Reserve holds 4 of the Big 5 (Rhino, Elephants, Buffalo and Leopard (unfortunately no lion) and over 408 different species of birdlife, especially found in the vicinity of the Hluhluwe river. Other animals one would find in the park include Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Crocodile, Hippo, varied antelope species, Warthog and Hyena.
There are a range of activities that Bonamanzi Game Reserve offers, such as guided walks, game drives and interactive bush tours for children, as well as birding experiences. Unguided walks are also available with no additional charge, however guests must take responsibility for their own safety. The guided walks and game drives are facilitated by the knowledgeable team of staff, who will impart interesting information about the game, vegetation, insects and medicinal properties of the plant life all found within the reserve. The accommodation options are varied, with catered and self-catered accommodation from 3 star right through to camping.
2 Bed and 4 Bed Tree Houses: Bonamanzi is well known for their Tree Houses, these wooden units, on stilts, are privately situated amongst the trees of the sand forest. There are units that offer one or two bedrooms and all have self catering facilities.
Tree Lodge: The Tree Lodge offers 3 bedrooms, lounge, dining room and kitchen all on a raised deck with wonderful views of a nearby water hole. Sleeping 6 adults in total the Tree Lodge is perfectly positioned in the sand forest.
Game Lodge: The more conventional Game Lodge offers self catering accommodation for 10 adults.
Dinizulu Lodge: Dinizulu Lodge has three individual units sleeping six adults with a charming dining room / lounge / entertainment area. This lodge is situated on the banks of the Dinizulu Dam and is very private.
Lalapanzi Camp: Lalapanzi Camp offers catered en-suite accommodation for fifty two guests. The restaurant serves either buffet or set menu meals, depending on the number of guests in the Camp. Saturday evenings at Bonamanzi are “Bush Braai” evenings, a treat not to be missed. Lalapanzi Camp is the “hub” of Bonamanzi as this is the area where guests meet for activities, there is an amazing lounge area with it’s “feet” firmly planted in a very large watering hole! The perfect spot to enjoy sundowners or a “night cap”.
Camping: Finally, Bonamanzi has 7 exquisite camp sites, very privately situated in the sand forest with ablution facilities and electrical plug points.
The wedding facilities offered at Bonamanzi Reserve give couples the opportunity to say their “I Do’s” in the one of Zululand’s most idyllic locations. Whether your wedding is taking place in the middle of the reserve, along the Hluhluwe River, or overlooking a picturesque waterhole, make your dream wedding come true at Bonamanzi. There are a range of wedding venue and reception options available, as well as honeymoon suites. The restaurant can cater for up to 100 seated guests, and the tranquil sights of the reserve offer a unique backdrop for this very special ceremony. Also available at Bonamanzi is their modern conference center, which can be hired out for either a half or full day. With 3 venues to choose from and a multitude of beautiful accommodation options available, Bonamanzi is an ideal location to hold any conference, seminar or important meeting. The conference rooms are fully equipped and can accommodate up to 24 delegates boardroom style and 40 delegates cinema style.

Exit the N2 for Hluhluwe
Make a left onto the R 22 and follow through 3 roundabouts
At third round about, take 2nd exit right onto the P2.
