Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden
A good place to learn about the region’s floral heritage is Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, on the Eastern slopes of Table Mountain. Here thousands of indigenous plant species are on show within a relatively small area, as they provide a splendid overview of what can expect to see on your wider travels.
Join us on nature walks at nearby Nature Reserves eg. Fernkloof Nature Reserve in Hermanus, Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Jonkershoek Nature Reserve in Stellenbosch, Helderberg Nature Reserve in Somerset West, West Coast Nature Reserve or the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, amongst many others.
Either join a one day tour or extend your trip to include an overnight stay and hire a bicycle to enjoy the wonders and breathtaking beauty the Western Cape has to offer.
Join us in search of the Fynbos endemic birds like the Cape Siskin, Cape Sugarbird and orange breasted sunbird on the Cape Peninsula and the Cape rockjumper,Victoria’s Warbler and Protea Canary on the Hottentots Holland mountains. Why not look for the rare Oystercatcher along the coast or rare Knysna Warbler on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain?
A number of tours are offered to various sewage works, coastal and mountainous areas.
Or give us your list of birds you wish to see and let us draw up an itinerary to assist you in ticking off those elusive species.
The Garden Route
Join us on a tour to the diverse area of a combination of mountains, valleys, coasts, lakes and rivers making it uniquely lovely and coining the phrase of ‘the garden route’ approximately 50 years ago.
The contrast between the dense indigenous forests that cover most of the lower slopes of the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains, and the sparse succulent vegetation of the arid Little Karoo, not far away, could hardly be more extreme. The birds which live in the fynbos on the Swartberg are quite distinct from the water fowl which inhabit the Wilderness lakes.
Walking is the best (and in some cases the only) way of experiencing and enjoying the beauty and variety of these areas.
Join us on a number of different options of overnight tours to this area.
One of our magical walks takes the visitor to the Stinkhoutkloof Forest trail in the Tsitsikamma, a trip to the World Heritage site of Featherbed Nature Reserve and on to Grootvadersbos Nature Reserve in Heidelberg before returning to Cape Town
