Exquisitely conditioned to provide a riveting golfing experience, this tree-lined course covers large tracts of varying terrain on rolling land. A detailed stroke saver takes golfers through the course, providing distance measurements and images that assist players with navigating the course. A warm-up area, featuring a full-length range and a chipping and bunker practice area, is available to golfers before play. Golf carts are available for hire, weather permitting.
Ranked number 14 in South Africa by Golf Digest, Fancourt’s Outeniqua golf course presents an 18-hole parkland layout that is tailored to provide a laid-back golfing experience. The course provides for easier gameplay than its counterpart, the Montagu while offering its fair share of challenges and water hazards on as many as 11 of its holes. Designed by Gary Player and named after the mountain range that forms its breath-taking backdrop, the course is pristinely conditioned to accommodate a large volume of players. The Links is a private Club for the exclusive use of its Members and accompanied guests, with limited tee times being made available to Fancourt Hotel and Manor House Guests who meet minimum reservation requirements
Sculpted into what Gary Player has described as his greatest feat as a course designer, The Links is the golfing hallmark of the Fancourt estate. Featuring an undulating, windswept terrain and dune-style landscape, the course is the collaborative handiwork of golfing icon, Gary Player, course designer, Phil Jacobs and its owner, Dr. Hasso Plattner.
The Links is currently ranked as the number one golf course in the country by Golf Digest South Africa, and 38th in Golf Digest US edition’s list of the world’s 100 greatest golf courses that compared 464 courses from 18 countries around the globe.
Transformed from an airfield into an amazing piece of environmental and golfing heritage, The Links has hosted some of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, including the Presidents Cup (2003), the SA Open (2005) and the 2012 Volvo Golf Champions European Tour. Inspired by the famous links courses of the British Isles, The Links is considered a masterpiece and plays host to a range of global golfing legends including John Bland, Justin Rose, Retief Goosen, Branden Grace, and Ernie Els.

Apart from its distinctive design, The Links has been lauded for its vital role in environmental sustainability and awarded accreditation as a Certified Audubon Cooperation Sanctuary. This certification necessitated a degree of ecological value that includes wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation and other environmental factors.

Val started her playing golf career at the age of 10. She represented South Africa as an amateur and joined the PGA of South Africa in 2000. She qualified in 2003 and has been coaching for 18 years. Val has been the South African Women’s National coach since 2004 to date. She has been the head coach of the Louis 57 Junior Golf Academy since 2012. Val has coached a number of players on the European and Sunshine Tour both Men and Ladies. Val has been instrumental in the Development of Junior Golf in the Southern Cape.
Nicole started playing golf at the age of 14 and represented both the Boland and Southern Cape provincially. After school, she went to the USA on a golf scholarship where she received a BA in Psychology at Georgia State University. She has been coaching under Val Holland’s guidance since 2014 and has been to date the assistant coach for the Louis 57 Junior Golf Academy. Nicole has enrolled in the 2018 apprentice program with the PGA of South Africa.
Arwed started playing golf at age 13, having focused on Tennis before. He got to join the boy’s national team in 2000 and won the German championship is 2003 with his team. After four years at university in Dallas Texas, where he won with the team as well as individually, he became a teaching professional. Playing never stopped however and Arwed played professional tournaments all the way up to the European Tour and even today still has a position in the world golf ranking.
