ABOUT KWAZULU-NATAL SHARKS BOARD | SHARK ATTACK | CONSERVATION FOCUSES ON SHARKS
There is an organisation situated in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal that is unique in the world and that is the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board. Established in 1964 to provide shark attack prevention measures for beach users, the KZNSB proudly performs this duty on a daily basis at popular bathing beaches from Richards Bay to Port Edward. Launching their boats at dawn, highly trained and experienced teams negotiate a sometimes volatile surf zone to reach their installations and begin the task of checking each net for entangled marine life, ensuring all is in order before the onset of beach users.
