Sandboarding at Sunday’s River: On this 3 hour sandboarding adventure you get the chance to ride some of the biggest dunes in the Eastern Cape on both types of Sandboard’s, the lie down board and the stand-up Snowboard type. This unique adventure starts with a scenic boat cruise on the Sundays River where you will see the local birdlife feeding in their natural habitat. After about 10 minutes, you will reach the famous Alexandria Coastal Dune field which is the largest, most impressive and least degraded dune field in South Africa, overlooking the Addo Elephant National Park. The company supplies all the equipment except shoes which you must bring along. The experienced guides will give you lessons and help you get started. Remember to bring along loose fitting clothes swimming gear, cool drinks, sunglasses and cameras. Transport from Port Elizabeth can be arranged on request. Sandboarding is for everyone and anyone looking for some outdoor fun in the sun. There is no experience necessary and beginners will be boarding like pro’s in no time.
Boat Cruises PE: Boat Cruises PE is a unique way to discover why they call the Sundays River “Africa’s Best Kept Secret”. The boats are situated at 1 Jetty St, in Colchester, less than 30 minutes’ drive from Port Elizabeth, just below the Southern entrance gate of the Addo Elephant National Park. Whilst cruising on-board one of our cruise boats, you might be luck to see some natural wild life or hear the call of the Fish Eagle. You will be amazed by the abundant Bird Life on the Sundays River in their natural habitat. Boat Cruises PE caters for groups from 1 to 42 people, if your group is small, then Sundays River Adventures will make use of one of their smaller boats to get up closer to the sand dunes and bird-life. Whether you are looking for that intimate or quality time with friends, family or work mates, look no further. On offer are various cruise packages and can also arrange for return transport or overnight accommodation to suit your budget. Just bring your own picnic basket and drinks and experience tranquility at its best whilst exploring the Sundays River. Allow the birdlife to entertain you with their unique sounds.
The River cruises include the following, with times below.
A majestic cruise up the Sunday’s river at a leisurely pace to view all the local river birds and wildlife. The cruise begins at 1 Jetty St, Colchester, 6175.
You first head to the Sunday’s river mouth and view the spectacular dune fields along the way and the river birds. After about 30 minutes, the boat turns around and heads back up river past all the river front houses towards the new and old bridge. The cruise is 2 and a half hours long and is a great way to experience the beautiful Sunday’s River with an upper and lower deck. Everyone is welcome to bring any snacks or drinks they would like to enjoy on board. There is a bathroom on board our bigger boats.

Wake-boarding Sunday’s River: Wake-boarding Sunday’s River is situated 5 kilometers from the Malaria FREE Addo Elephant National Park and caters for the adventure traveler visiting Sundays River, Port Elizabeth, Addo, Colchester and the surrounding areas. Activities include water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, boogy boarding, private river cruises, personalized tours, team building, business tours, international tourists and anyone looking for some fun in the sun.
Wake-boarding includes all equipment and lessons.
Addo Elephant National Park is a diverse wildlife conservation park situated close to Port Elizabeth in South Africa. Addo Safaris offers an educational and enjoyable experience on our half a day or full day tours. They are situated at the South gate entrance of Addo Elephant National Park in a town called Colchester. Each drive is unique and cannot be easily planned as animals are on the move constantly. But our guide will do all he can to provide the best sightings he can.

Maggie May House Boat Accommodation: This a beautiful rustic house boat on the Sunday’s River, only 5 minutes from Addo Elephant National Park. There is a double bed in the main bedroom and a king size couch bed which is made up in the lounge/kitchen. Breakfast at our restaurant A Taste of Africa is included. The boat moored on the jetty during your stay or it can arranged to other moorings up or down river at an extra charge of about R1000.00 depending how far you want to go. A canoe is available which you can use to paddle in the river.
The Maggie May house boat is the biggest house boat on the Sunday’s River and is over 10 meters long and 5 meters wide. There is one bedroom with a sliding door and a couch next door which folds into a kind size bed. Spare mattresses are also in the boat for those who want their own bed. There is one 2 man tent for the upper deck if not enough space in the cabin. We could possibly squeeze in 6 people but 4 is comfortable and 2 is ideal.
The guest shower and Toilet at my house is available if you prefer more space you are welcome to use it.
Guest access: You have access to the whole boat, kitchen, bathroom, upper deck etc. Jetty nearby and river for swimming. Restaurant only 5 minutes walk including Shopping and fuel station & liquor store. Pearson Park Resort is next door and you can access the beach and Addo Marine section through there.
Sundays River Adventures offer river cruises and Sandboarding adventures from 1.5 hours – 4 hours with all equipment included and a boat ride to the unique Alexandria Coastal Dune field which stretches for a distance of fifty kilometers. Discounted rates. It stretches from Sundays River Mouth to Bushmans River, and is one of the largest existing active coastal dunefields in the world. The Alexandria dunefields cover a total area of one hundred and forty two square kilometers.
