How Do I Arrange a Segway Tour?
This is easy! We always recommend making a booking to avoid disappointment. Booking can be made on this website, over the phone, or at our office. Once this is done, all you need to do is show up with booking reference.
What is learning to ride like?
It will be among the fastest activities you’ve ever learned. Within minutes of first stepping on a Segway, you will have a basic feel for its intuitive operation. We’ll teach you how to ride before the tour. With proper training and some practice, better riding ability will soon develop. A guide will be with your group the entire time.
How does it move? How does it balance?
The Segway x2 uses LeanSteer™ Technology to move you from Point A to B. Gently move the LeanSteer frame and handlebar left or right in the direction you want to travel and feel the machine respond almost instantly. The Segway x2 balances by using five micro-machined angular rate sensors and two accelerometers that sense the changing terrain and your body position at 100 times per second.
Can I fall while riding a Segway?
Yes. While the Segway balances for you, it is still under your control and relies on you to control its direction and speed. You must practice your skills and know the limitations of your riding ability and the Segway. As with any moving device, you must ride with care and always as an observant operator to avoid hazards and collisions with obstacles and be aware of your surroundings and the terrain.
Are there weight and Age limits for the Segway x2?
Yes, Segway sets weight limits for rider safety and to reduce the risk of damage to the Segway x2. A rider must not shorter than 1.1m. The maximum payload (which includes rider and all cargo) for the Segway x2 is 125kg. The total weight of any handlebar cargo plus any additional attachments hanging from the handlebar should not exceed 4.5 kg.In accordance with international operational safety standards, no Segway x2 rider may be shorter than 1.1m in height.
How fast can the Segway x2 travel?
Each Segway x2 comes with two operational settings, “beginner” and “standard”. Beginner setting is set to 6mph/13kph, and the standard setting is set to 12.5mph/20kph. 12.5 mph is roughly equal to a 5-minute mile, a really fast run.
How far can a Segway x2 go on a single charge?
Depending on your base model, payload, riding style and terrain, a single charge can support up to 24 miles/38km of travel. You’ll be amazed at just how far that really is.
Can I use the Segway x2 in the rain?
Yes. The device is completely sealed to allow it to operate in wet weather, splash through puddles and ride on wet grass. Just be careful on slippery surfaces.
Is there an age or height requirement?
In accordance with international operational safety standards, no Segway x2 rider may be shorter than 1.1m in height.
Are there any physical requirements?
Riders should weigh between approximately 45 and 125 kilograms. Since you are going to be on your feet during our tours, you must be able to comfortably remain on them for no less than two hours and capable of continuously making minor shifts from front to back and side to side, with knees that can bend slightly.
Why doesn’t the Segway fall over?
Five gyroscopes, two tilt sensors, and an array of electronics make adjustments 100 times a second. The Segway remains balanced electronically–you do not have to self-balance from front to back, even over rough or uneven terrain. This is remarkably intuitive and usually easy to learn for anyone. Feels like magic, but it is technology in action. The only way you could even begin to fully appreciate the wonder of the Segway is to try it for yourself.
Is the Segway x2 more efficient than a car?
Yes. The Segway x2 is 11 times more efficient than the average American car, and over three times more efficient than even the highest-mileage scooters. As a zero-emissions vehicle, the Segway x2 can also go indoors. It does draw electric power during recharge, but that electricity causes fourteen times less greenhouse gas emissions than driving a car.
