The Two Oceans Aquarium is the perfect non-weather dependent opportunity for divers to explore the underwater world of the oceans surrounding the Southern African coast. Diving in the Aquarium offers the unique opportunity to get close to shoals of large predators such as yellowfin tuna, striped bonito, dusky kob and black- and white musselcracker – as well as three turtles: a dive that you can’t experience in the natural environment. All divers are accompanied by a dive master and underwater photography is allowed. Each dive is preceded by a briefing to familiarise divers with the animals that they will encounter on the dive. Divers have the choice of either using their own dive gear, or to make use of the gear supplied by the Aquarium, which includes Reef wetsuits. The Aquarium supplies all divers with a cylinder and a Brightweights weight belt for their dive.
Visit the exhibits and learn about marine life. Even better, join the staff during feeding time to see a frenzy of activity, accompanied by a short talk from one of our staff. Get up close and personal with the adorable rockhopper penguins of the Two Oceans Aquarium. Learn about the feathered friends and watch them being fed. They also love sitting in people’s laps!
Get a lot closer to the animals of the I&J Ocean Exhibit! Engage with the friendly rescue turtles Bob and Sandy in our secure environment, and get a privileged look (with mask and snorkel) at the beautiful short-tail stingrays, the man-faced black musselcracker, giant guitarfish and the nearly 200 other fish swimming around this large-scale exhibit.
“Sea” life under the microscope! Check out the interactive exhibit that reveals the world of the very, very small. Also nearby is the Touch Pool, where you can pick up, touch and feel a variety of marine animals and plants.
The I&J Children’s Play Centre buzzes with the excitement and energy of children as they are entertained and informed through puppet shows that have an important environmental message, as well as arts and crafts activities, games, books and a sand pit. A great space for parents or guardians to relax while the little ones play to their hearts’ content.
Café V is open daily from 09:30 to 18:00 at the I&J Ocean Exhibit. Grab a cup of coffee while watching the gentle sway the turtles, guitar fish and stingrays gliding by. Right next door is Vista Marina, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner – it offers stylish Mediterranean fare, great service and unbeatable views.
