Walker Bay Sea Kayaking
Explore the magic of our unique coastline with its abundant marine life up close and personal in one of our stable kayaks in the company of an experienced guide. Glide across sparkling water while enjoying a view of the majestic mountain, sea cliffs and marine life.
After a thorough briefing on kayaking techniques and safety we paddle from the historical Old Harbour and do a round trip, the direction dependant on winds, swells and paddling abilities. A knowledgeable guide shall open up the wonders of our ocean to you, as we explore the beautiful natural surroundings.
We paddle our kayaks in a Marine Reserve and by law we are not allowed to come within 300m of a whale. If they decide to come close to the kayaks we must move away from them.
We are very aware of our environment and are proud of the fact that we are an ecologically friendly operator that strives to have as little impact on the environment in which we operate our tours as possible. With minimal noise pollution and no environmental pollution we also do regular clean ups of any rubbish found in the Bay.
We use Perception Tribe sea kayaks that are manufactured in the UK and are sit on top self-bailing, plastic sea kayaks. In short this means that anyone, weather you have kayaked before or not, can hop on and stay on.
Our guides are qualified in marine guiding and first aid at sea, but more importantly they love this job and hold great knowledge of the ocean.
On our tours you will enjoy sightings of cape fur seals, penguins, cormorants and other sea birds and marine mammals. Whatever time of year this is an experience not to be missed.
Duration 2 hours.
No Experience necessary.
You will need: shorts, towels, t-shirt, sunhat, sunscreen, windbreaker or fleece (weather dependant) and a change of clothes for afterwards.
Excessive wind and swell conditions will result in cancellation of the sea kayak trip. We reserve the right to cancel the trip at any given time and shall not be held responsible. We try to avoid this from happening by departing to sea in the mornings when conditions are more favorable. These times change through out the year and can be confirmed on booking.
November to April: 8h00, 10h30 and 1pm

Guests paddle on super-stable, extremely safe paddling kayaks – perfect for first-time paddlers, and all outdoor lovers.
We launch at the Hermanus Yacht Club on the Hermanus lagoon, home to an amazing array of birdlife, and breathtaking views of the towering mountains above.
Surrounded by nature, we glide across the lagoon towards the shallow, safe waters.
Our destination is the historic Mosaic Farm, where we relax outdoors in the shade of the milkwood trees to enjoy delicious, award-winning Cape wines from nearby estates upstream, and sample freshly-baked fare from the excellent restaurant. We then tour the eerie Stanford Spookhuis – the haunted old stone manor house built in 1892, which has now been refurbished into a stylish getaway.
Satisfied and happy, we launch back on to the lagoon’s warm waters, and paddle gently back towards Hermanus, for a safe and delightful adventure home.
Whale Watching in Hermanus
Hermanus is regarded as the whale watching capital of South Africa and there are few better ways to see these gentle giants in their natural environment than on a boat based whale watching trip. The tours are operated from the New Harbour in Hermanus and departs 3 to 4 times daily depending on the time of year and weather and sea conditions.
The permit issued to the operators entitles them to approach the whales up to 50m and then stop, allowing the whales to decide whether to approach the boat or not. Being curious they normally approach the boat and enjoy a quick peek at their visitors. This is an experience to be treasured.

Ever wanted to try your hand at making your own wine? Well, short of stomping the grapes and having to learn all the intracacies of wine making, there are not many people that get to do this! So, we have made it easy for you. Under the expert guidance of our winemaker to facilitate the process and to share some of that intimate knowledge of wine with you, you are led through a process of wine blending, as your teams vie against each other to create the finest blend. The winning team gets to have their blend made up for the whole group, and each person walks away with a bottle of the winning blend. As we use very fine wines for this activity, the budget for this would be more suited to management or senior groups.
