Our Most Popular Daily Scheduled Trip
Cape Town has one of the best locations to see the Sunset from the Sea. With the Atlantic Ocean stretching away from the majestic Table Mountain range, this is certainly a ‘must do’ cruise for locals and tourists alike. Toast the setting sun from the deck of a luxury vessel with a complimentary glass of local sparkling wine. (A glass per guest, or a bottle for a couple.) A cash bar is available for other drink requirements, including soft drinks. Kids are welcome, and have a special price option, but remember it is an adult cruise so no alcohol served to minors! Cape Town weather can change 5 times a day, so our route from harbour is not always predictable; the two options below are merely a guide. But no matter which direction we take be assured of a spectacular cruise.
SUNSET UNDER SAIL
The sail boats Esperance and Serenity One follow the wind for this cruise. They do not offer a specific destination for this reason; you will be advised before departure as to the expected direction. The typical Cape Town summer wind blows from the south east; the boats use the motors to leave the harbour and then they sail across Table Bay towards Milnerton lighthouse, returning to the protection of Granger Bay in the lee of Table Mountain to watch the sun set, and then motor back to the Waterfront.
In winter months with the northwester prevalent, the direction taken will be toward the Clifton coast line , or the Robben Island Coastline , also returning to Granger Bay. The wind and sea conditions change daily so the routing and style of trip also changes to meet the conditions; the skipper and crew will give you the best possible adventure.
SUNSET ON A MOTOR VESSEL
The Motor Vessels Sea Princess and Southern Cross follow a different route to the sailing boats. As they are not dependant on the wind they offer a destination and normally cruise slowly along the Atlantic seaboard towards Clifton beach and then return.
The Champagne Cruises are extremely popular as pre-dinner cruises. They are ideal for families who find the regular Sunset Champagne Cruise to late.
The Champagne Cruise is our second last Cruise of the day, and returns to Harbour prior to the Sunset .
Toast Table Mountain and the sunset from the deck of a luxury vessel with a complimentary glass of local sparkling wine. (A glass per guest, or a bottle for a couple.) A cash bar is available for other drink requirements, including soft drinks. Kids are welcome, and have a special price option. Cape Town weather can change 5 times a day, so our route from harbour is not always predictable. But no matter which direction we take, be assured of a spectacular cruise.
Sailing in the Bay
Want to experience a thrilling yacht ride? Try an exhilarating sailing cruise to no-where across the bay (and back, of course!)
This cruise can be done either on the twin-masted schooner Esperance or the luxury catamaran Serenity One. Depending on the wind, the trip is either to Milnerton and back in a southeast wind (summer) or to Robben Island in a northwester (winter). The skippers pick the most comfortable course, normally a beam reach. And if you don’t know what a beam reach is, our cheerful crew members will happily educate you!
Both trips are normally available on the daily schedule and are offered during the day and not at Sunset or Pre-Sunset Times .
If Clifton Beach is the ideal sailing destination, then Serenity One, Waterfront Chartersmagnificent catamaran, is the ideal vessel to sail on. For corporate functions, touring parties or a special event, the three hour Clifton Cruise is the ideal package sailing tour to captivate and enchant your guests.
Departing the V&A Waterfront at 12:00 (pm), the Serenity One’s 88 square meters of sail and high-performance design thrills all aboard as she carves her way along the magnificent Atlantic coastline to Clifton Beach. After about 45 minutes of effortless sailing Clifton is reached; the iconic white beaches entrancing in their contrast to the deep blue of the sea. Once there, the skipper drops Serenity One’s anchor at a protected spot off the beach, and the indoor/outdoor theme of the stable catamaran provides the perfect platform for guests to enjoy the splendor of one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.
Whether they laze on the yacht’s trampoline, enjoy a drink at the bar or enjoy a chilled dip in the sea, Serenity One offers a complete yachting experience. An easy access swim platform means graceful exits from the sea with a fresh water shower to sluice off the salt; cool music will provide background entertainment, and equally cool crew members will ensure that every guest requirement is complied with, served up always with smiles.
Guests who want to enjoy an offshore meal whilst at anchor are encouraged to bring along a picnic basket; Serenity One’s bar will make sure all their thirst quenching requirements are met. After a leisurely hour basking in the sun and envious looks from the beach-bound crowd, the skipper will order the sails hoisted again, and Serenity One will once again harness the elements to take the guests back in style to the V&A Waterfront. For sun worshipers, the open decks offer an unequaled sailing experience, for those wanting a little respite, the covered cockpit area is protective and embracing, but still with glorious views. If the wind doesn’t cooperate, Serenity One’s powerful twin 55 hp motors will push her back to base with graceful ease.
The three hour Clifton Cruise on Serenity One is an experience every Cape Town visitor (or resident!) should experience. Whether it is a party, a function or a family outing with the kids, the unique aspects of the cruise will leave every guest wanting to repeat the experience – and soon!
Coastal Motor Cruise
Waterfront Charters most popular Motor Boat trip. The Southern Cross, a sturdy but luxurious twin decked trawler based vessel takes you from the historic V &A Waterfront area out to sea and cruises along the Atlantic coastline to Green Point Lighthouse and back to harbour. With spectacular mountain and city views, the cruise gives a perfect ocean view of Cape Town’s splendours. This One Hour Cruises operates daily with regular departures from Quay 5. A popular option with our Cruise and Dine lunch package, as well as many travel passes and Tour Operators. The weather option is a cruise into the International Harbour; when cruising the ocean is unpleasant, you will get a sailor’s view of our wonderful harbour with Table Mountain’s imposing presence still a thrilling factor. With a cocktail bar and great service this is a trip not to be missed.
Seal and Harbour Cruise
A scenic guided harbour cruise aboard the Southern Cross through the working harbour of Cape Town. With close up views of seals and ships, and the unequalled sights of the iconic V&A Waterfront it’s a trip ideal for visitors, school groups or anybody who would like a quick introduction to the city and the Waterfront. At 30 Minutes in duration it is our shortest cruise and every trip is different within a changing working harbour. Look out for the Seals on Wheels!
40 Knott Experience

Watch for whales, African penguins, Cape fur seals, dolphins, basking sharks, sun fish and many species of bird life. Speed Boat Eco Adventure
A 60 minute fun and fast ride aboard a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) along the coastline to see a large variety of marine life. Watch for whales, African penguins, Cape fur seals, dolphins, basking sharks, sun fish and many species of bird life. Adrenaline plus an eco-tour makes this a real Ocean Safari. With an hour on the water we can reach Clifton Beach and beyond. Routing depends on the experienced skipper who uses his local knowledge and takes weather and sea conditions into account. The boat is not moving at speed all the time, as we spend time moving slowly and are sometimes stationary as we take in the sights. An excellent alternative to the Whale Watching Cruise when the whales have left our shores.
Clifton Cruise on Spectre
For the wild at heart – Join us for a speed Boat Cruise to see a large variety of marine life. With whales in season, African penguins, Cape fur seals, schools of dolphins, basking sharks, and huge sun fish in the sea, and many species of bird life above and on the water, it’s a real adventure!
Spectre, Waterfront Charters new state of the art RIB (or Rigid Inflatable Boat), will take you on an Ocean Safari adventure to the magical Clifton Beach. With some time to enjoy the view and the water before skimming back across the swells to harbour it is a trip that puts spray in your hair and a smile on your face, so pack your sunscreen and windbreakers. This trip lasts 90 Minutes so there is plenty of time to stop the boat and enjoy the view. Marine Life are wildlife so sightings are not guaranteed. The Qualified Skipper will impart local knowledge and he may change the routing and destination due to weather and sea conditions .
